A downloadable Micro Dungeon-Crawler

Delve into a grim dungeon and probably die there.
Here is GrimRogue : an all in one solo Dungeon Crawler that only needs two 6 sided dice (2d6) to be played. This game is thought to be fast with almost no-preps and simple to play.
GrimRogue is written on 2 pocketmods with a front and back for each. It's litteraly two pieces of paper!
It is heavily inspired by video games like Rogue, Nethack and Dungeon Master.

What do I need to play GrimRogue?
- The two pocketmods Core Book and Dungeon Book if you want to print the game
or the GrimRogue All In One Digital if you want to read it on digital devices (mobile, PC, etc) - The optional Character Sheet
- two six sided dice (2d6)
- A pen
- A paper to draw the dungeon, or you can play with minis
To print and play this game, fold the pocketmod following this video:
Huge thanks to :
- 3 Skulls Pub for his amazing Pocketfold - alternative Pocketmod design.
- my girlfriend Enfant De Minuit for her support, spell-check, layout help, play-test and illustration advisory
Soundtrack to play along: coming soon (hope so)

My first experience with this type of game. The pocketfold books are really cool to print and fold!
Alas, my first try was desastrous! I entered a temple, set off a poison trap by touching the statue of a female goddess. (bewbs, can't resist them!), after I desperately tried to open a locked door with my magic which set off another trap!! The room started to tremble!
I was able to shoulder myself trough the door, just in time before the room started to collapse. But as a feeble wizard, I subdued to the poison before I could make it trough the corridor.
Short, but fun! And I learned some mechanics. ๐
Thank you!
Super happy to read this! ๐
This is a fun first time for this game! Yeah, it is an unforgiven one, worst of that, the wizard is kind of harder than the rest ๐
Thanks a lot for playing it and for this kind review!
Oh, did I find an error in spelling? In the pocketfold Core Book, under the gameplay section (left inside fold) it says: When you leave an area: 1 in 6 change of losing one torch.
Shouldn't that be "chance"?
I had to ask ChatGPT what that ment. It means to roll a d6 and if you roll a 1, you lose a torch. (Total greenie here!!)
I will try and watch some playtroughs. (Or something similar) My drawing skills are not that clean looking, but atleast I made it to some crypts!
By the way, is it ok if I gave my rogue a +2 in DEX so she could use the warbow? But wait, now that I think about it.... "to wear it", is not the same as "use" is it? It means it doesn't take up space in your inventory anymore? Or am I seeing more then there is?
I have a pointy head. I can only imagine what D&D players go trough. (or the DM. lol)
*edit* How does speed (SPD) factor in? In a small room (3x3) with a fast enemy it has no possible use? (As does move since attacks will be almost instant?
Hey! Sorry for the response delay ๐
Yes, this is a spelling mistake, it's clearly "1 in 6 chance". And yeah, you roll a d6, and on a 1, you lose one torch.
For the wear/use, it's the same thing in this game as the rule are pretty light. Of course, you can do whatever you want with your character, and twist the rules as you whish, as long as the game is fun for you. There's no "true way of playing" in the TTRPG world ๐
Really excellent job! Well done!
Thanks a lot! ๐
Great game, thanks! It's also good as light RPG with MG. I run classic D&D modules on it :)
Thanks a lot for your kind comment! ๐
This is so cool that you run some D&D with it :p
A wonderful dungeon crawl, one of the best I've found for solo play. Thank you for all the hard work.
I did have a question but saw it was corrected in the newest version! I'm very impressed.
Oh wow! Thanks a lot for such a kind message, means the world to me!
I'm very happy you enjoyed your session ๐
I tend to ignore the rules on precise movements in individual tiles, but it is my rule and it works just as well.๐๐ผ
Congratulations...this is a great dungeon crawler, I find it very immersive ..I made myself a sequential diagram of things to do each time I open a door and find myself in a new environment. Really well done ๐ฏ
Nice!
Thanks a lot for your kind words !
Great game!
What's the range of PC bows? DEX tiles?
What does "Ranged weapon came if 2d6+100 ammo" mean? (it's under the weapons table)
Thank you! ๐
There's no rules for PC bows, so you can either choose to shot at any distance or use like DEX x2.
Yeah it's a typo, I need to upload a V2 with some typo corrected. That's "Ranged weapon came with 2d6+10 ammo"
I've update the game right now ;)
Question: In which tile do the monsters appear?
Thanks!
Well, as I was out of place, I let the player choose.
When I play, I throw some dice to do some grid position and place the monster, like if it's a 4x5 rooms, I roll a dice for the height, another for the width and place it there (exemple : a roll of 2 and 3, and the monster will be on the square 2x3 in this room).
Manage it the way you prefer ;)
Thanks for reading it !
Excited to try this out this week!! Looks sick!
Thanks a lot ๐
